Welcome to my creative process and the intricate world of materials, tools, and processes that play a vital role in shaping my time in this artistic space. I hope this will offer you a glimpse into the web of inspiration and innovation that charges my art.
On the Road of Inspiration
My habit of looking down is lifelong. I derive so much of my inspration from the shapes I see. These sights are my fuel.
Following My Intuition
I paint and make marks with no plans; it’s all play. Things start to look good or not so good, so I keep going. I take photos in case I fall in love too soon. Each painting has many, many layers.
Using Tools and Making Marks
I love reusing packaging materials, so they have another “roll”, are not just tossed or recycled. Traditional tools are also embraced. Brushes, silicone, scrapers, bubble wrap, envelopes, cardboard, coffee, sleeves, string, ceramic tools, plastic bags, and more.
Exploring the Process
At some point, a painting will start to emerge. I then use my intellect to address value and design. This step is as critical as play itself, for it is at the intersection of these two parts where the magic of creating a painting truly unfolds.
The Finish
With the help of time, when a painting feels finished, I will apply an isolation coat, usually gloss medium. To finalize, I will then apply a coat of cold wax medium, and when that is dry, buff it to achieve a very nice finish similar to a tumbled stone.
